Hi there! I’m Wendy Maybury—a comedian, mom, and the proud owner of a boutique photography studio in St. Paul, Minnesota.
My mission? To make you look and feel amazing.
I’ve always been a people person who can bring out the best in anyone (yes, even the “I hate photos” people!). Whether it’s capturing authentic smiles, getting creative with your ideas, or helping you feel completely at ease in front of the camera, I’m here to make magic happen.
A little about me: I fell in love with photography in second grade but still went to college for English, (much more practical than photography) earning a degree from James Madison University. After a few years in the work force I realized that I really only wanted to be a photographer. So, heading to grad school to hone my craft. My journey took me to New York City, where I had the honor of working with the legendary Mary Ellen Mark. You can see my photo on the dust jacket of her “Twins” book with the rest of her team. That was an incredible experience resulted in a short film that even made it to Sundance.
I moved to Los Angeles, diving into headshots, weddings and fine art photography before moving to the Midwest, where I helped train thousands of photographers nationwide at the world’s largest photography company.
And because I really love doing hard things, I also have a comedy career! My debut album, She’s Not From Around Here, on Stand Up Records hit #1, and I tour nationally with the hilarious “Day Drinking with Mom” show.
But photography has always been my first love. At Desire the Image Studio, I’ve created a boutique experience designed to make you feel like the best version of yourself. From brainstorming ideas to the session itself—and even helping you hang stunning wall art in your home—I’m with you every step of the way.
2025 marks my 25th year as a professional photographer. While I’d never say I’ve seen it all, I’ve learned a thing or two about creating unforgettable images. Whether I’m photographing a destination wedding, collaborating with major brands, or capturing families and individuals, I bring my love of connection, creativity, and storytelling to every session.
I’m certified through Professional Photographers of America, a proud member of Twin Cities PPA, and I limit the number of weddings I photograph each year to make sure every couple gets the personal attention they deserve.
